We had to canoe through some pretty strong head winds as well as managing the wake from boaters going up and down the river. After nearly tipping our canoe over (a couple of times), I quickly became a nervous reck the remainder of the trip. I suppose I am a little afraid of falling into the water. I was ever so grateful to reach our final destination safely!

Overnight Canoe Trip
While in Utah during our summer break we went canoeing down the Colorado River with most of Colten's family. We put our canoes into the water just below the Hoover Dam and sailed away 14 miles down the Black Canyon. We enjoyed the cool water during the hot days and at night we all just pretended to sleep in our heat trapping tents afraid to wake anyone else up but later finding out that most everyone was awake most of the night anyways. Some of us (in our group of 22), cliff jumped, skipped rocks, hiked, swam, etc. We also saw a group of Desert Big Horned Sheep that entertained us as we watched them scale a steep cliff.

Babysitting Gig #2
Three days after our first babysitting gig, we signed up to watch our good friends’ two kids while they went on a quick vacation. Again, we stayed at their house and enjoyed the craziness of 3 wild children. I didn’t get as many pictures this time but I did happen to catch a cute moment of the kids getting all wet in a tarp covered sand box.
Babysitting Gig #1
A little while back, Colten and I were asked to babysit / housesit for a couple in our ward. They have two adorable kids and we survived 3 days with 3 children. (Plus I got to drive a minivan – even though the van was nice, I’m hoping that doesn’t come for quite some time.) Natalya loved having instant playmates. I’m not sure the other two kids loved it as much having a baby come into their home and try to play with all their stuff. Overall we did some really fun things…
We went to our ward party at the park, Oxbow Zoo and House of Bounce. We made sugar cookies and played the wii and lots lots more.
